Cross-country skiing
Nordic skiing, a sport for all
Closely related to the world’s most legendary winter sport, Nordic skiing, or cross-country skiing, is an experience that all may enjoy. This well-rounded sport gets the arms and legs involved in a workout without inflicting trauma on the muscles of the body. This is a way to get away from it all and commune with nature as you discover the wild landscapes of the Les Trois Vallées area.
Get away for a day and head for the cross-country skiing slopes of the ski area between Méribel, Courchevel, and La Tania for a total of 90 km (56 mi) of freedom.
A lush setting for an exploration of the Les Trois Vallées area
From the village of Méribel, located just 10 minutes from our establishment Hôtel AlpenRuitor in Méribel-Mottaret, you’ll find a circuit for all levels of cross-country skiers. You may enjoy the magnificent setting of Lac de Tueda before setting out to conquer a hillier path through the natural reserve of cembro pines.
Two disciplines for this Olympic sport
Accessible to all and for all, cross-country skiing is done on gentle slopes, which makes it a pleasant sport to try. It includes two distinct disciplines:
- Classic style, which gives you the impression of walking on the snow in your skis.
- Skating style, which requires a movement more like ice skating.
Depending on your level, you may choose between two styles which both guarantee a moment of pure enjoyment at the heart of the Les Trois Vallées area.
At the airfield of Méribel, Nordic skiing turns into a biathlon, an Olympic sport that combines physical effort with the precision of rifle shooting. In the company of your friends or family, you may learn this discipline at a rifle shooting session supervised by enthusiastic professional monitors.
